Mother's Day - Second for Me, A "First" for Them

What a weird title to this post, huh?  Well, let me explain.   We celebrated my second "real" Mother's Day over the entire mother's day weekend and even some days before.  My mom was over to watch Abby and Jimmy while Jim and went furniture shopping on Wednesday, May 9th.  When we got home, this is what we found:

What nice mother's day surprise from my mom/Abby and Jimmy! I loved it! Thanks for making a nice wall collage to celebrate me, mom!

Then, luckily, the weekend of Mother's Day, Jim did not have to work!  Yahoo!  It was a long 11 days in a row (with one day off I guess) of Jim working 10+ hours a day for the weeks before.  So it was very nice to have him home for the entire weekend.  On Saturday, Jim took Abby and Jimmy out in the morning so I could do whatever I wanted!  How wonderful!  What would you do with a couple hours of free time...watch tv, shower in peace, relax, nap, read, etc?  Well, all those things crossed my mind, but what I ended up doing was cleaning the house.  OMG - you are thinking how crazy I am, right?!  Cause that is what I was thinking as I was doing it, but I just couldn't stop.  I kept telling myself that I would just finish one more thing, then I would read/relax/watch tv/etc.  Well, even though I spent most of my alone time cleaning and doing laundry, it was still really nice to be alone in the house and I felt like I had made great progress in the cleaning department.

When Abby and Jimmy got home, they surprised me with balloons and Jim brought some flowers and chocolate covered strawberries!   I love them - a perfect gift for Mother's Day!

On Sunday, we were planning on taking the babes out to the Woodlands mall to get Jimmy's hair cut, play at the playplace and ride the carousal.  But I found out early Sunday morning that the mall didn't open until 12noon.  That was not going to work for us.  So instead, we packed up and headed out to the zoo.  It was a perfect day to walk around at the zoo and we all had a great time!  And Jim took an awesome picture of me and my babies to celebrate Mother's Day:
Isn't it a great picture?!  :-)

And now "first" for Abby and Jimmy:  Mother's Day night was the first night that Jim and I did not give Abby and Jimmy a bedtime bottle.  For almost 21 months, they have had a bottle before bed, so we have been hesitating to take the bottle away and kept saying we would stop the bottle "soon,"  but we always chickened out thinking that it would turn out good nighttime sleepers back into babies that wake a lot at night.  But you know what, it went really well and they slept fine.  Abby was a little bit more whiny then normal, but Jimmy took it like a champ.  It has been so nice not to have to clean bottles anymore!

So that was Mother's Day weekend in a nutshell.  It was a great weekend spent with my family, all the loves of my life!
